Impulse Festival 2025 - Website

Responsive Website. Programming. CMS.

About the project

For the 2025 Impulse Theater Festival, I developed the website using Kirby CMS. The platform supports a dynamic calendar and news system, reflecting the festival’s multi-city, multi-weekend format and its focus on reflection, exchange, and contemporary performance.

Project Scope

The 2025 Impulse Festival website was developed using Kirby CMS and supports a dense, evolving program spread across three weekends in Mülheim, Cologne, and Düsseldorf. A central requirement was editorial flexibility to match the festival’s ambition: showcasing political, personal, and aesthetic positions from over 500 considered productions.

A key feature is the filterable calendar and program pages, which allow users to browse events by date. Equally important is the news and updates module, where the team publishes program changes, background texts, and discursive content. Both tools were custom-developed and integrated into a clear, modular backend that is easy to use.

The visual design—provided externally—was implemented responsively, with attention to micro-interactions and accessibility. The content was managed by the Impulse team themselves, and I supported the process by building custom plugins, fallback logic, and structured editing workflows.

The result is a technically solid, future-ready platform that reflects the festival’s mission: to bring people together through performance, discourse, and celebration—even in challenging times. The digital infrastructure now helps translate the festival’s themes—like cultural transformation, social critique, and utopian imagination—into an online experience.
